What is the order in doing auto body repair work? Plastic Filler, putty, and primer? Or what?
I'm repairing the body on my MGB. It has been repaired previously with plastic filler, and I don't want to remove it all. I want to repair cracks in the paint and have ground down some of the plastic filler to the metal to get below the cracks. Now I'm not sure of the order I need to do it all in. Since I'm blending paint from the repair section to the existing paint, can I just 320 the existing paint I'm blending to? Then do I need to use the plastic filler, then putty, then bring the primer up to the finish paint, wet sand with 320 and apply the finish? (Centari, Single stage paint)? I'm baffled as to the order and procedure. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks!

How much will it cost to have auto body repair work done on my car?
I have a 1998 Honda Civic LX. Last night I was driving home and I reached down for my cell phone which had dropped underneath my feet and took my eyes off the road for a split second and ran into a guard rail. Yes, I know it was stupid and totally my fault, so no need to comment on that. The whole passenger side of my car has a very deep scrape that extends from above the wheel to the back passenger door and the side mirror is hanging on by a thread. Because of the way the side was pushed in, the door won't open more than like 12 inches. I know that this means I'll probably have to have panels replaced on my car and maybe a new paint job but I'm wondering if anyone can give me a rough estimate on about how much this will cost.

What's the penalty for forging a two party check?
I recently had some auto body repair work done. The work was not complete and the work done was done incorrectly. The auto shop said they would need another $100 cash to finish the job. I asked to have the owner call me and he never did. Found out they cashed the 2 party check and forged my name, thus they have been paid and never corrected or finished the work. 1) It was not an approved repair facility, my insurance will not get invloved. 2) I already have a claim with the B.A.R. against the repair facility. My question now is what are thier consequeces for signing my name on a check and cashing it? Is it theft? Forgery? Larceny? If it was for $1150.00 is it grand theft? Are they going to be fined? Should I take them to small claims court and ask for the full amount back? I really want to make this repair facility think twice before ripping someone else off.. I think it's horrible to sign someone else's name on anything.

Marine Technician question?
I am interested in working on boat motors and hull repair. Where i live they do not offer specific classes for it and I am unable to move at this time so my question is - will auto body repair work to help me get my foot in the door for hull repair? also, I assume diesel classes for the boat motors? any help would be appreciated. Thanks, I am in Utah so all we have is an outdoor power equipment program that covers small outboard motors taught through the community college.

Is it illegal to repair your car on your property?
I just turned 18 and bought a old 83 Toyota Pickup. I just wanted to fix it up for college next year and I have been working on it all Spring Break except Sundays. I got a letter from the city of Costa Mesa that says to cease all auto & auto body repair work because it is illegal. My car is a garage but because it is small I pull it out just a little bit so I can some fresh air while i work. I am about 25 ft away from the sidewalk. Please help. I don't want to rent a place so I can fix it up. I need save up for my college too.
